Fiona Watson vs. Mayssa Bastos Confirmed for ‘KASAI Pro 5’
The full card is set to ignite at the Manhattan Center on April 6th
March 16th– New York City, NY – KASAI Elite Grappling Championships (KASAI) today announces its third and final superfight for ‘KASAI Pro 5’. Mayssa Bastos will face Fiona Watson on Saturday April 6th at the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom.
“The final superfight is set,” said KASAI President Rolles Gracie. “These two very talented women will bring the action on April 6th”.
Fiona Watson is 29 years old and competes out of East Rutherford, NJ. She is a first-degree black belt and owner of Notorious MMA. She is an EBI veteran, and a Fight 2 Win superfight champion. She has medaled at the IBJJF No-Gi and Gi Worlds, Pan Ams, NY Open, Boston Open, Miami Open, and Vegas Open.
Mayssa Bastos is a 21-year-old black belt under Julio Cesar Pereira and Jair Court of GF Team. She also works extensively with Murilo Santana at Unity Jiu-Jitsu. Her impressive list of accolades includes: seven-time World No-Gi Champion, six-time Pan Am No-Gi Champion, seven-time Brazilian No-Gi Champion, EBI Female Strawweight Champion, five-time World Gi Champion, three- time World Pro Gi Champion, seven-time Pan Am Gi Champion, seven-time European Gi Champion, and ten-time Brazilian Gi Champion.
In addition to Bastos vs. Watson, ‘KASAI Pro 5’ will also feature superfights between Marcos Tinoco and Romulo Barral, and Dante Leon vs. Edwin Najmi. The main event at “KASAI Pro 5’ will be an eight-man World Championship Tournament at 205lbs to crown KASAI’s inaugural World Light- Heavyweight Champion. The competitors include Felipe Pena, Tim Spriggs, Craig Jones, Kaynan Duarte, Jackson Sousa, Tex Johnson, Messi Patsarigov, and the winner of KASAI’s Elite Grappling Championships qualifier tournament, Pedro Marinho.
