Marcio Andre vs. Renato Canuto confirmed for ‘KASAI Super Series’

An ace faces two-time KASAI champ on February 2nd  at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX

 

December 9th– New York City, NY – KASAI Elite Grappling Championships (KASAI) today confirms that Renato Canuto and Marcio Andre will meet in a superfight at ‘KASAI Super Series’ on Saturday, February 2nd at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX.

“”Anyone who comes up against our two time champion, Canuto, will have their work cut out for them” said KASAI President Rolles Gracie. “Marcio may be his biggest challenge yet.  We can’t wait to see his dynamic game on the KASAI mats. Whatever the outcome, plan on fireworks for this one.”

Marcio André is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Fábio Andrade who is regarded as one of the top grapplers of his generation. Some of his accomplishments include: IBJJF World No-Gi Champion (2016), IBJJF European Champion (2018/2016/2015), ACBJJ 7 LW Grand Prix No-Gi Champion (2017), UAEJJF World Pro Champion (2016)

Canuto is a second-generation black belt under his father, Valdir. Renato now trains at Checkmat BJJ. He currently holds two KASAI belts. He is the KASAI World Lightweight Champion and the KASAI World Welterweight Champion. Canuto is also the 2017 IBJJF World no-gi Champion and holds the distinct accolade of winning dual gi and no-gi IBJJF World Championships at Brown Belt in 2016. Most recently, he beat Vagner Rocha for the second time at KASAI Pro 4.

In addition to Andre vs. Canuto, ‘KASAI Super Series’ will also showcase some of Jiu-Jitsu’s most decorated names in compelling feature fights including: Gordon Ryan vs Joao Gabriel Rocha, Tom Deblass vs. Bruno Bastos, Ricardo “Demente” Abreu vs. Aaron “Tex” Johnson,and Vagner Rocha vs. Matheus Lutes.
